about
We used a KRS-1 cliche to describe the fledgeling rise of Hip Hop culture and music in Australia as we experienced it in the 80' & early 90's. It paralleled with our broken finances yet continued dedication to the music not because of material gain but because of youthful passion & a dream for the cultures distinction & acceptance in our homeland.

Chicken and Watermelon x 2
Makin Fonke music is a must
We took a trip and it was much too long,
I found soup on a roll, with chicken and watermelon
I seen the people yellin What happened to the
Fonk - it went for a walk and returned home
I feel the beat, to my dome
My lady... she thinks me crazy
I like to eat the styles from the buckwile
Keith and the earlybirds, the A-K-A
My momma likes the fonk-stikools
Soup eats beats, Kaboobis on steroids
Stereo feral, kick it on lo-fi
Bulgin with hormones Huh Kinda fly
Like the eagle - Blaze lit the fire
Aspiring fatness, we rolled with poets
The flava was voodoo they hung in the loungeroom
Boomstix arose Ransom was paid
There wasn't too much cash to be made
That was the time of the high top fades
We dropped - with - the cast, the fingers were lickin
I ate the pork soup chewed the chicken
juice was flowin, the days were strange
The meta was basic equipment was foramative
All the hedz were seeking for 16 bit -
who could afford it Time for a record deal
All the knew how to mix was dance
hip hop was rizin soon it would overtake
it became clear whose real and whose fake
fatty's were dropping over the funk we're making
heads began noddin seven flavours the shakedown
makin fonke music
makin fonke music
makin fonke music
makin fonke music is a must X2
Boomers were standard the 15 inches
We got the brown vinyl and we bounced it
Poms were playin us
J's were playin us
Chrissy she played that
ID's were necessary
No-one was doing that in any other genre
Now its standard fakers was on
Word was born
In terra australis I shout to the crews who paved
The cats who didn't sell out to raves
We was just hungry for a thumper and a crowd o jumpers
Soup knows that. Kaboob knows that
My Brethren know that And that’s a fact
Crews who rocked a fake accent were thrown back
It was a curse to be wack
But it was cool cos MC's formed a new skool
They wanna take it and tweak
Bringing the food for the beat freaks
